The New York City Council announced Thursday that it will hold a hearing to question officials from the developer Mamdani about the collapse of the $650 million Hunts Point Produce Market redevelopment plan.

Council Speaker Julie Menin said the council will investigate why the project, which Mayor Eric Adams had described as mission‑critical, fell apart. The hearing is set to take place in Hunts Point.

The mayor had promoted the redevelopment as essential, but its failure has prompted council scrutiny.
