Hassan Bennett, chair of the Citizens Police Oversight Commission, was indicted on charges of bribery and witness intimidation on October 27, 2026. Prosecutors allege he provided unredacted criminal case documents to inmate Thomas Scott in an effort to influence the inmate’s case.
Bennett also works for the city’s public defender’s office, a position that runs alongside his oversight responsibilities.
The Citizens Police Oversight Commission is tasked with monitoring police conduct in Philadelphia.
