SEPTA reactivated its real-time bus and train tracking tools early Thursday following a brief shutdown prompted by a federal cybersecurity advisory. The tools, which allow riders to view live vehicle locations, were taken offline Wednesday and brought back online at 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Federal cybersecurity officials had warned organizations that use the PHP programming language to apply critical security updates or suspend services. In response, SEPTA disabled the tracking tools until the necessary safeguards were put in place, then restored them once the updates were applied.
