The Philadelphia zoning board approved the conversion of the historic Wanamaker Building to include restaurants, shops and apartments, clearing the way for new food and beverage venues, retail space and residential units inside the structure.
The decision follows the vacancy of the Grand Court and the Eagle statue after Macy's closed its department store in 2025, leaving the area largely empty.
City officials view the mixed‑use plan as a means to revitalize the Grand Court and restore activity to the landmark.
