GlobalFoundries announced on October 21, 2026 that it will construct two new semiconductor manufacturing facilities in Malta, Saratoga County, New York. The announcement was made with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and federal government officials present.

The projects are part of a U.S.-Japan agreement to expand semiconductor production, and are intended to create jobs and boost the regional economy.
