Bryce Terry, a sophomore at Skidmore, will spearhead the Beyond the Summit triathlon on August 21, 2026 in North Conoway, New Hampshire. The event is organized to collect donations for the oncology department at Memorial Hospital, the hometown medical center.
Joining Terry in the effort are teammates Shane Baker, Coleman Jenkins, Christian Day and Theo Angelopoulos. Together they will compete in the race’s three segments, which begin with a one‑mile swim, followed by a bike course and a running leg. The triathlon marks the second year the community has gathered for this purpose, building on the momentum of the inaugural fundraiser held last summer.
The one‑mile swim will take place in the waters of North Conoway, a venue chosen for its accessibility and safety record. After completing the swim, participants will transition to the bike portion that winds through local roads before concluding with a run that circles back toward the hospital’s parking area. All three phases are timed, and athletes will record their results for personal reference and for any competitive rankings associated with the event.
Proceeds from registration fees, sponsor contributions and on‑site donations will be directed to Memorial Hospital’s oncology department. The department serves patients from the surrounding region and relies on community support to fund advanced treatments and patient services. Organizers anticipate that the second annual triathlon will surpass the fundraising totals of the previous year, reflecting growing awareness of the hospital’s needs.
The event is open to athletes of varying skill levels, with categories for both seasoned triathletes and first‑time participants. Local volunteers will staff water stations, medical tents and registration desks throughout the day. The community’s involvement underscores a collective commitment to supporting cancer care in the area.
The Beyond the Summit triathlon provides a structured athletic challenge while channeling energy and resources toward a critical health service, reinforcing the link between sport and community well‑being.
