Robert White announced he will leave his District of Columbia Council seat on Monday, November 2, 2026, to satisfy the eligibility requirement for the congressional delegate position held by Eleanor Holmes Norton.

The resignation will be filed at the John A. Wilson Building after an opinion from the District Attorney General indicated that a council member must step down to run for the delegate role.

White is the Democratic nominee for D.C.'s non‑voting congressional delegate, a seat long occupied by Norton.
