Teacher vacancies in Maryland fell 73.3% to 572 over the past four years after a $10.1 billion education investment, higher salaries and expanded apprenticeship programs.

The decline is attributed to the historic funding boost, the increase in teacher pay and the growth of teacher‑apprentice initiatives. Maryland has been working to address a long‑standing shortage through these financial and policy actions.
