Cape May County officials are pressing the federal government for assistance to fund repairs to beaches that were damaged by a September 2026 storm.
The appeal is backed by Governor Sherrill, who indicated that federal aid would aid in restoring the shoreline and preserving tourism.
The September storm caused erosion and damage along the Jersey Shore, including the Wildwood shoreline, leading the county to seek federal support.
