The New Jersey Department of Transportation is constructing an addition of almost 300 feet to the Ortley Beach boardwalk, along with a covered pavilion at the former Joey Harrison’s Surf Club site, with work beginning in 2026.

The new section replaces the portion of the boardwalk destroyed by Hurricane Sandy and is meant to enhance the shoreline experience for visitors by providing extra amenities.
