The Social Security Administration announced a cost‑of‑living adjustment to benefits that will take effect on Oct. 14, 2026, marking the biggest increase since 2023.

The adjustment is designed to keep benefits in line with inflation, although part of the increase is offset by higher Medicare costs.

The change will be reflected in retirees’ payments starting mid‑October and applies to beneficiaries across the United States, including New Jersey residents.
