Powerful storm-driven waves are accelerating beach erosion along the Jersey Shore, including the Wildwood area, in October 2026. The increased wave action has led beach officials and coastal crews to move sand in an effort to protect the dunes.

Erosion has been a concern since the September nor'easter, and crews are now employing bulldozers to rebuild the dunes and mitigate further loss.
