A new gallery devoted exclusively to local artists opened in Winnipeg’s Exchange District on October 23, 2026. The space, operated by Lucent Gallery and Design Studio under the direction of owner Laura Porath, adds a commercial venue to the city’s art landscape.
Porath noted that while Winnipeg’s art community is vibrant, the city has a shortage of commercial galleries dedicated to local creators. The new venue aims to fill that gap by providing a dedicated platform for regional talent.
The opening comes amid an active local art scene, which has historically lacked dedicated commercial spaces for its artists.
