MARTA chief executive Jonathan Hunt told the Atlanta City Council Transportation Committee that the agency’s new train cars are not yet ready for service. He said the fleet is very close to completion but will require an additional six to eight months before deployment can begin because the cars have not met required readiness criteria.

The delay pushes the expected rollout of the modernized trains further into the future, extending the timeline for the system’s upgrade plan.
