The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) unveiled a comprehensive 100‑year regional roadmap in 2026 that outlines strategies for water, energy and infrastructure across the Chicago area.
The plan aims to confront a “polycrisis” involving more frequent severe‑weather events, an aging population and evolving technology requirements in the region.
Planners noted that northeastern Illinois is seeing increased extreme weather, demographic shifts and new technology demands, prompting the long‑term mapping effort.
