Dr. Benjamin Seides, an interventional pulmonologist at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, rescued a Russian blue kitten that was stuck behind a wall in his Chicago home on Oct. 30, 2026. He employed the same instruments he uses for airway procedures to free the animal.

The kitten had become lodged behind the wall and could not escape on its own. Using his medical equipment, the doctor was able to release the cat, a task that fell outside his usual clinical duties.
