High tide advisories for the Southern California coast are set to expire on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Record tides of 8.4 feet were measured at Newport Beach and 8.02 feet at San Pedro, and an approaching storm is expected to produce additional surf over the weekend.

The temporary advisories were issued in response to a series of strong high tides affecting coastal communities. The incoming storm system is identified as the next factor that could increase surf conditions beyond the current levels.
