San Bernardino County authorities announced the arrest of nine men on Oct. 28, 2026, charging them with stealing retail merchandise from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway freight trains in the county.
The stolen goods were valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars, and investigators linked the thefts to the Sinaloa Cartel.
The Sinaloa Cartel, one of Mexico's most prominent organized‑crime groups, has been associated with multiple freight‑theft incidents in the United States.
