The Los Angeles Department of Transportation will begin operating a fleet of twenty automated speed cameras on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. The devices will photograph the license plates of vehicles traveling more than ten miles per hour over the posted speed limit.
The rollout is part of LADOT’s Speed Safety System pilot program, which is designed to improve traffic safety. The cameras are programmed to capture only license‑plate information and will not record images of drivers’ faces.
