Chief Judge Ariana Fajardo Orshan of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida signed a state arrest warrant charging former Cuban leader Raúl Castro with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The indictment relates to the 1996 downing of two Brothers to the Rescue aircraft, an incident that killed all aboard.
Authorities allege that Castro was involved in the 1996 shootdown of the two humanitarian planes over international waters. The warrant was issued as part of the Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier's effort to pursue the case against the former leader.
