Montreal city council approved a motion, with amendments, on Monday requiring the chief of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) to appear before council to address allegations of officer misconduct.
The motion, introduced by council member Fady Dagher, passed after council deliberation and follows reports of serious misconduct involving officers at two SPVM stations.
Council will arrange a date for the police chief to testify and answer questions about the allegations.
