A Quebec court judge authorized a judicial recount of the federal election results in the Champlain riding of the Mauricie region on October 20, 2026. The decision followed a margin of just 191 votes between the leading candidates.
The Parti Québécois asked for the recount because of the narrow outcome. The request comes after the October 5, 2026 election in which Conservative candidate Adriana Szalontai led Parti Québécois candidate René Branchaud by the same 191‑vote difference.
