The Société de transport de Montréal announced a programme to replace roughly sixty escalators and to repair one in five of the existing units across the metro system by 2031, allocating about $200 million for the effort.
The upgrades are linked to the planned extension of the Blue line and aim to modernise ageing infrastructure that supports heavy passenger movement throughout the subway network.
