Laval police are asking the public to help identify a man who pretended to be a police officer in order to defraud victims of gold jewelry, credit cards and debit cards.
According to the Sûreté du Québec, the suspect used the false police identity to convince victims they had been defrauded and to collect the stolen items and payment cards.
Impersonating law‑enforcement officers to commit fraud is a criminal offence, and authorities are seeking tips to locate the perpetrator.
