The Liberal Party of Canada announced that Guy Cormier will run as its candidate in the upcoming by‑election for the Laurier‑Sainte‑Marie riding on the Island of Montreal. The by‑election is scheduled for 1 November 2026.

Cormier previously held the positions of president and chief executive officer at the Desjardins Group, bringing that experience to his candidacy.
