The City of Montreal recorded approximately $185 million in revenue from fines issued to residents in 2026, marking an increase of over 20 percent compared with the same period in 2025.
The growth is linked to a higher volume of fines under the municipal administration led by Martinez Ferrada, which has been using penalty fees as a major source of city income.
