On October 19, the owners of the Canada Malting plant in Montreal’s Sud‑Ouest will begin a partial dismantling of the nine‑storey building and its façade after the structure was judged unsafe due to a risk of collapse.

The work will focus on removing the sections identified as hazardous while the remaining parts of the plant stay intact for the time being.

The safety assessment that triggered the demolition highlighted the potential for a structural failure in the nine‑storey facility.
