On October 20, 2026, the nonprofit Pink in the City marked the 20th anniversary of its breast‑cancer awareness and treatment campaign in Montreal.
The campaign originated in 2006 when Lawrence Vourtzoumis, then 11, shaved his head in solidarity with women facing breast cancer, prompting a province‑wide effort.
For two decades the initiative has partnered with the MUHC Foundation to support women diagnosed with breast cancer and to raise public awareness of the disease.
Denise Vourtzoumis and Lawrence Vourtzoumis continue their involvement as the organization observes the milestone.
