The Société de transport de Montréal announced a plan to replace roughly sixty escalators on its subway system by 2031, with an estimated budget of $200 million. The programme also includes repairing one in five of the network’s escalators.
The upgrades are part of broader improvements to the metro, which also encompass the upcoming Blue line extension.
