Lisle Lester’s ashes were transferred from Queens Crematorium on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, and are being taken back to her home state of Wisconsin.
The 19th‑century journalist, who founded Wisconsin’s first magazine, The Badger State Monthly, died and was cremated in Queens before the remains were moved.
The transport marks the return of her remains to Wisconsin after the cremation in Queens, New York.
