The Greenpoint, a 40‑story luxury residential tower in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood, has been powered by a backup generator for more than a month after an electrical fire cut off its main electricity supply.

The fire caused a loss of power, leading the building’s emergency generator to provide electricity to residents. The extended use of the generator has raised safety and maintenance concerns.

Residents have expressed anger over the prolonged generator operation.
