The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has launched a $1.9 billion effort to replace aging signals on the A and C subway lines, covering 23 stations, with the goal of delivering faster and more reliable service.
The project follows persistent delays attributed to the outdated signal system and forms part of a system-wide modernization program across the New York City subway network.
