Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced that the city is starting an outreach campaign to assist New Yorkers in reapplying for SNAP benefits under the new federal rules.
Since March, 26,500 residents have lost SNAP benefits because the federal changes rendered many people ineligible.
The city government’s campaign will provide guidance to affected households on how to navigate the reapplication process, responding to the significant drop in SNAP enrollment caused by recent federal rule changes.
