Six nonverbal special‑needs students were unaccounted for more than four hours after their school bus left its scheduled path and stopped at several incorrect schools in Brooklyn. An investigation report issued on Oct. 16 by the Special Commissioner of Investigation for the New York City School District confirmed that the bus deviated from its planned route, causing the prolonged absence of the students.
The report details that the vehicle visited multiple schools that were not part of its assigned itinerary, leaving the six children missing until the error was discovered.
