Councilmember Curtis Jones Jr. announced his intention to run for another term representing Philadelphia's 4th District on the City Council. At the same time, a group of Democrats urged him to withdraw so that State Representative Morgan Cephas could become the Democratic candidate for the seat.
Jones currently holds the 4th District seat, which will be contested in the upcoming municipal election. The calls from Democrats are intended to clear a path for Cephas to run for the council position.
