Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that a section of Interstate 76 will be closed overnight on the weekend of October 3–4, 2026, to allow demolition of the Market Street Bridge in Center City, Philadelphia.
The demolition follows a 14‑month, $148.9 million bridge rehabilitation effort and is part of PennDOT’s larger multi‑billion‑dollar program to repair the Market Street bridges that cross rail lines and a trail in downtown Philadelphia.
