A study by Zeke Hernandez of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania calculated that Philadelphia lost $811 million in sales because of the ICE tax. The findings were released on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026.
The analysis attributes the loss to a decline in consumer purchases, quantifying the tax’s effect on the city’s retail sector.
