A man riding an electric bicycle died after his bike struck a parked sport‑utility vehicle on the 6700 block of Stenton Avenue in Philadelphia late Friday night. The collision occurred at approximately 11:54 p.m. on September 11, 2026.
Philadelphia Police Department officers responded after a call reporting the crash. When they arrived, they found the rider unresponsive on the roadway and the SUV standing legally parked and empty. Officers secured the scene and summoned emergency medical services.
Investigators confirmed the vehicle was not in use and complied with city parking regulations. The electric bike, a 2012 model, hit the rear of the SUV and was propelled forward, causing the rider to be thrown.
Medical examiners later determined that the rider suffered severe head trauma from the impact, which was the direct cause of death.
No other motorists or pedestrians were reported to be in the vicinity at the time, and no additional vehicles were involved.
