The Pennsylvania State Legislature approved a new anti‑hazing measure on Oct. 26, 2026 that classifies hazing as child abuse and requires mandatory reporting of such incidents. Governor Josh Shapiro signed the bill into law.
The action was prompted by the abuse scandal involving the Cheltenham High School football team, as lawmakers noted that hazing cases have drawn increasing scrutiny across the state and the new statute is intended to strengthen protections for minors.
