A couple who survived a flash flood in Ash Fork, Arizona must pay a fee of $1,700 to reclaim their seven dogs, which are being held by the Yavapai Humane Society after a reported bite.

The flood forced the couple to evacuate, and the local humane society took custody of the pets. The shelter says the charge is required because one of the dogs allegedly bit someone.
