Seattle Public Library’s Books Unbanned program has topped one million e‑book checkouts by teenage readers, according to the library’s latest figures.

The initiative is designed to give teens access to titles that have faced challenges or bans, expanding their reading options.

The achievement comes just ahead of Banned Books Week 2026, an annual observance that underscores the value of free expression.
