On Tuesday, October 4, 2026, St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church held its yearly Blessing of the Animals in the church parking lot in West Seattle. Reverend Canon Elise Johnstone and Rev. Vince Booth led the service as pet owners gathered with their dogs, cats and other animals for a religious blessing.
Among the attendees were two cats that received the blessing alongside other pets brought by community members.
The ceremony is part of an annual tradition in which the church invites the local community to bring their animals for a special blessing.
