Preservation advocates are opposing a redevelopment plan that would replace most of the historic Doyle Building near Seattle’s Pike Place Market with a 23‑story apartment tower, while retaining only two of the building’s historic exterior walls.
The proposal calls for demolition of the majority of the Doyle Building and construction of the high‑rise on the site, preserving just two of the original walls. The Doyle Building is a recognized historic structure in the Pike Place Market area.
