On October 8, 2026, the mayor of Seattle signed a law that requires large grocery retailers and delivery services to apply fair pricing to groceries and forbids the use of shoppers' personal information to set those prices.

The ordinance makes Seattle the first U.S. city to adopt a grocery fair‑pricing measure that also bans surveillance of customers' data for pricing purposes.
