Seattle’s tax collections have risen 172% over the past decade, increasing more rapidly than the city’s population, employment levels and inflation, according to an economic analysis released in October 2026.
The report notes that the surge reflects a growing reliance on business-generated revenue, a shift that could present challenges for the city’s future tax base.
