Residents of South Seattle gathered Saturday morning at the Van Asselt Community Center for the first of three listening sessions focused on the search for a new Seattle police chief. The meeting was part of an effort by the Seattle Police Department to collect community input while it continues the selection process.
The department has been operating without a permanent chief for two months following the departure of former chief Shon B. The listening sessions are intended to give residents a forum to share their perspectives as the search proceeds.
