Southbound passenger trains operated by Amtrak and the Virginia Railway Express will be suspended between October 16 and October 26, 2026, as an interlocking beneath Union Station in Washington, D.C., is replaced.
The shutdown applies only to southbound services departing Union Station. Trains traveling north to Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Boston will continue to run on their normal schedules.
