A federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued an order halting further tree removal at East Potomac Park. The District of Columbia government also declined a National Park Service request to accelerate the historic preservation review of a golf‑course redesign proposed by Donald Trump.

The order is intended to protect historic resources in the park and to ensure the review process proceeds without haste. East Potomac Park, part of the National Mall, is slated for conversion to a golf course under the proposal.

By refusing to fast‑track the review, the city will allow the National Park Service to conduct the standard historic assessment before any changes are made.
