The Kennedy Center Honors ceremony will take place at Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, D.C., rather than its customary riverfront location, after a legal dispute over adding President Donald Trump's name to the traditional venue. The event is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026.
The Honors have historically been held at the Kennedy Center's riverfront site, but the naming controversy forced the move to the arena.
