Kingman Park residents filed an appeal with federal planners on Oct. 1, 2026, challenging the nine‑story parking garage that is part of the Washington Commanders’ new stadium. The District of Columbia Council subsequently added its own concerns to the dispute.

The community and council officials said the garage’s location could have a negative impact on the neighborhood and are considering options such as moving the structure or constructing it underground.

The issue brings together the stadium’s designers, local residents, and federal planners as they evaluate the future of the parking facility.
